Spring Wedding Color Trends 2018

Spring Wedding Color Inspiration – 2018

Somehow – amazingly – the Spring 2018 wedding season is fast approaching (i’m not really sure how that happened exactly) And therefore, wedding planning is kicking into high gear with all those last minute details and even still some big decisions to be made.

It’s no secret that I often feel the groom is left out of many of the design aspects of his own wedding. Oh you know, he may be asked to pick out a band or plan the vacation (A recent couple commented that her fiancée got “REALLY great airline ticket fares!”) but when it comes right down to it, it frequently feels that others are making the decisions for him.

“So what do you think you’ll be wearing?” i’ll ask.

“A suit I guess…” he answers more as a question than a statement of fact.

So I was chatting with the good folks at The Black Tux (who really make renting suits and tuxes for weddings a breeze!) and was asked to give a little insight into this season color trends for weddings. I thought it would be fun to give the gentlemen a little attention for a change and discuss how it can play into their wedding day choices.

______

Blush and Grey

This is a simply classic combo that you cannot go wrong with. I think an error some men make is deciding to do a black tuxedo with this look, and while it can work, I feel the darkness of the black is too harsh a contrast. A classic grey suit is a great way to go, as you can also get a lot of use out of it afterwards if you decide to buy one. This one from The Black Tux is classic, stylish and affordable. As for neckwear, the men can stay in the blue/grey range as shown here or if he’s a little more daring, add a snazzy deep green or coppery bow tie…you know, to match your Moscow Mule mugs!!!

______

Lilac and Green

I just love this combo since for me, it reflects the freshness and ‘newness’ of Springtime. While grey works here as well, this is a wonderful opportunity to choose a classic tan suit. That color then becomes a base neutral for a wide variety of coordinating colors like peaches, pinks, violet and even shades of green. It’s a wonderful suiting combo even for the hotter days of Summer! This tan suiting option here at The Black Tux is a perfect base to start off your wedding outfit decisions.

______

Ultra Violet – the Pantone Color Of The Year

BOOM! Violet – you don’t have to ask me twice about how much I’m in love with the possibilities here! (you’re talking to a guy who has a deep purple leather Crate and Barrel armchair…so…you get the idea) This is one of those colors I feel some men are ‘afraid’ of, but that when done correctly is absolutely amazing. It’s a fun, gutsy and stylish option for the bolder groom. Now keep in mind you don’t have to go bananas and wear an entire violet SUIT (although I would personally consider it as long as I didn’t look like a Batman villain.) Rather, consider incorporating Ultra Violet details that bring out the essence of it. A tie with violet in the pattern with a coordinating pocket square and even a lilac floral boutonniere pin would hint at the color without being overwhelming.

______

Slate and Moss

Ok, you can relax from Violet overload and settle into a soothing Slate and Moss 2018 palette. Fellas, consider a deep, rich masculine navy to compliment the softness of mossy tones. I think perhaps the best part of this is the chance to get creative with what flowers you choose! Thistles and succulents as shown here are the perfect way to pick up on the wedding colors while making a subtle personal statement. And again, you can opt for a stylish tie that mimics the underlying tones because lets face it – nearly anything goes with navy!

And of course, the helpful folks at The Black Tux can walk you through this entire process to make it super-easy. If you haven’t yet men, check out their Grooms Guide, covering planning, style and so much more.!
