Saltwater Farm Vineyard wedding – Lex + Kevin
a very special wedding at Saltwater Farm Vineyard, Stonington, CT | A Thyme To Cook
So I REALLY think this post needs a bit of personal background before we get started…
When I first started off in wedding photography many years ago when dinosaurs roamed the earth and did not know much of ANYTHING, I was lucky enough to get involved with what turned out to be VERY high end caterer in Massachusetts. They did amazing, beautifully presented food and really CARED about the way they behaved, and acted as true professionals throughout each event. Being new and really stupid, I assumed that ALL weddings were handled in this fashion, which turned out – sadly – not to be the case.
I must admit I got a little spoiled.
Years later, I met the good people at A Thyme To Cook in CT, and thought to myself “THIS is the type of catering I want to deal with once again, and have missed! ( i’m maybe being WAY TOO honest here…)
So flash forward to 2011 when I get a call from Linda, a Thyme To Cooks Owner, asking me to photograph her daughters wedding. I have to admit, I was both flattered as well as stunned – as I immediately thought, “..She has first pick of whomever she wants in Connecticut. Rhode Island and MA….. why would she PICK me??!” [told you i’m being honest here…] So I went into this wedding with a great deal of humility as wells nervousness wanting everything to be just right—
SO with that disclosure out in the open – here we go—
The gals got ready at Saltwater Farm Vineyard and the beautiful flowers from Hana floral design of Mystic CT showed up, succulents and all!…
…meanwhile my associate shooter Jay, was with the guys at the MGM Grand Hotel at Foxwoods Casino…
+++
The gals got ready the the room above the vineyard at Saltwater farm…
+++
I apologize in advance–pink Dior shoes and an old suitcase--I went little crazy—-
+++
back at the MGM— Kevin’s mom….
+++
+++
+++
+++
I got a little bit enamored by these chunky orange necklaces….
while we were waiting to leave, Jay shot some candids of the guys in Stonington
+++
+++
The fellas waiting patiently at the church—
I just LOVE this sequence!….
Lex’s mom, Linda owner of a Thyme To Cook sees her for the first time after the ceremony—
+++
Onto Saltwater Farm Vineyard, where Josh Chalmers worked his magic…
I loved this old card cabinet used for notes to be written and mailed to the couple
and yes ; even URKEL made an appearance…
Ryan Designs brought in furniture for guests to chill out on–
a Thyme to Cook did ‘edible’ place card: biscuits with table and manes baked into them!
we got a REALLY cool moody sky as the evening progressed—-
+++
So come to find out that Kevin was – as a kid – the ‘Dimetapp’ model–so they had ‘wedding styled’ Dimetapp shots., which tasted as bad as shots as they do as medicine—-
the surprise Grooms Cake – and let’s be honest: who DOESN’T LOVE Easy Cheese?….
late night Fire Pit…..
demanding guests 🙂
