Saltwater Farm Vineyard Wedding | Nicole+Matthew
CT winery wedding | Saltwater Farm wedding photographer
Nicole and Matt’s wedding was officially the ‘last one of 2013″, and those weddings always hold a special place for me. They represent the end of yet another wedding season and allow me to kind of ‘close the book’ and reflect back on the year. I was half expecting snow this day with all the wacky weather we had this season, yet what we ended up with was a very rainy day. But they were both so easy going and open to anything, that they made even the somewhat nasty drizzle a pleasure!
So not only was it the last wedding of the year, but luckily it was at one of my favorite venues, Saltwater Farm Vineyard–which is beautiful regardless of whatever weather you encounter!
I pretty much just stole Nicole’s dress without asking and took it downstairs for a quick dress shot
Nicole and the gals got ready upstairs in the bridal suite while we stole her shoes and rings for some detail images

The fellas arrived so we took a few mom nest to grab some shots of them downstairs
I think this is so funny – here’s Matt and Mikes Dad photobombing the 2 sons
So I was experimenting with a new Petzval Lens I actually got through a Kickstarter Campaign, and they were nice enough to let me goof around with it for awhile. Here, I try and go for an old school portrait type look with Matthew.
This was such a cool detail – both families have a history with farming, and they had 2 separate displays that recognized both farms
Probably one of my favorite ‘getting ready’ shot of the year—which I sadly did not take: thank you, Ian Witschy!
Nicole heads downstairs for a First Look while Matthew studies his vows
and THAT expression is why First Looks are so terrific!!!
so since it was–well….pretty crappy out: we found a little corner with some beautiful soft window light
OK–so get this: booth of them rate science teachers so they did a periodic table for place cards!!!! (I actually still have mine on my office bulletin board!!)
I LOVE the color and light you get at Saltwater photographing against the steel wine tanks

another creamy Petzval image
a cool image Ian got from the outside (in the rain) shooting through the window
You may have noticed the beakers at the beginning and wondered what that was. Well as science teachers, rather than a sand ceremony or anything like that, they instead poured 2 liquids into a beaker for a chemical reaction—now come on: THAT’S clever!!

Lets face it that nobody – myself included – enjoys rain on a wedding day. When a bride says to me, “I sure hope it doesn’t rain.” I always think to myself, “NEITHER DO I!” So it’s always a treat when I have a rainy day wedding with a couple willing to endure the elements and allow me to make a beautiful image for them!!
SEE? Who doesn’t love a little rain when it looks this great?

Grandma!
The science and beaker theme was continued with the guests gifts – hot cocoa mix in beakers (I really wanted to take one!!)
Matthew’s brother Mike’s band handled all the music for them, which was pretty cool
