Katie+Jesse's E-Session @ The Gunnery: Washington CT
Last weekend on a spectacular summers day, I drove up to Washington CT to meet Jesse and Katie at The Gunnery a boarding and prep school they attended and met at! How cute is THAT??!!
(now get some learnin’ from Wikipedia: The Gunnery was founded in 1850 by Frederick W. Gunn, a teacher, abolitionist, and father of recreational camping in America. The basic mission of The Gunnery is to promote the four cornerstones on which character is built: scholarship, integrity, respect and responsibility.)
so what better place to hang out on a sunday for an engagement shoot?…
school had just let out and Jesse called ahead for permission to shoot there–so we kinda had the whole empty campus to ourselves. I loved this sunken garden behind the main building.
It felt a little odd being there with nearly NOBODY but us around (ok, allow me an obscure movie reference: Charlton Heston in The Omega Man, minus the zombies…), but also made it feel like out own, personal photoshoot set!
I’m a sucker for a solid wall of stone or ivy—can spot it from a mile away!

In contrast to the classic building on campus, I also really like this kinda frozen-in-time 1970’s style science building
This building was Jesse’s dorm for awhile!
thanks for a beautiful afternoon (and great excuse for me to take my Fun Car out for a spin!) I’ll be seeing you sooner than later this September at Saltwater farm!
Beautiful!! Love the pictures you captured on the stairs – they’re so endearing!
