Intimate backyard wedding | Jennifer + Sarah
Wedding in Middletown CT | reception @KRUST Pizza
When Jennifer and Sarah contacted me and i found out they were having an intimate wedding in her moms backyard I got really excited. When she told me she wanted a portion of the day with with film (!!!) I about fell off my chair! How cools is that?! Jennifer works in Art Conservation and said she “…really appreciates the lasting quality of a traditional B&W silver print. ” Again – I got all excited. So off I went with 3 cameras this day ( 1 digital, 35mm film as well as medium format film )
The day started out with a little makeup help and some ironing 🙂
The fact wasn’t lost on us this day however, that only about a week previous to this wedding was the day the Supreme Court made their historic ruling. That gave the day an extra-special feeling in so many ways. (It kind of made me tear up a little bit at times)
I loved this special pillow Jennifer mom sewed containing fabric and items from their past- a dress- grandfathers pocket watch and fabric from her Dads shirt.

The OTHER thing that got me all giddy was when they told me they wanted their formals to be at a nearby abandoned mental hospital. I mean – come ON–that’s a perfect match for me. give me anything decaying to photograph and i’m all over it!
We were maybe KINDA trespassing- but I figured worst case scenario we’d be asked to leave!
This is a film shot from the #Hasselblad
MY competition!

A few more B&W film images. It was so FUN to actually shoot film again and know it would be appreciated!

After the ceremony and a brief cocktail hour, we moved to downtown Middletown to Krust for our casual reception. They were so cool and accommodating and even made me my own personal pie!!
I was bugging the chefs to let me photograph the cooking process, which they actually didn’t mind~!
