Inspire Boston 2011- behind the scenes

As mentioned in my last post, I just got back from an intense, fun and enriching 3 days at Inspire Boston 2011, in Concord MA. I had all sorts of good intentions to keep up with shooting everything behind the scenes. However – that idea quickly dried up–both as nerves set in for giving my presentation as well as—well, uhhh—the annoyance of carrying a camera around. I wanted to have fun. I was off duty, Dammit! So this is heavily biased towards the first day and the workshops I attended, and I apologize in advance for that. There are a billion other shots of everything else on a zillion blogs and facebook pages floating around out there , if you’re REALLY interested!

I put the camera down during Mark Higgins SEO class (I was actually trying to learn SOMETHING) I didn’t take a single shot during Rick Esposito’s class about consultations (again–HELLO: learning!) And of course there are few images from the evening—not do much sure to learning, but more due to partaking in adult beverages. ( all in the spirit of networking, of course…)

And of course, I photographed nothing during my talk, as I was bury vomiting in a garbage pail. Well OK – nothing THAT bad…but I sho’ was nervous! I have to say—speaking in front of a group while having done it a few times, does not really get easier for me. Everybody has this kinda blank look–which in my paranoia I intrepret as boredom rather than enraptured interest. I’m not sure WHAT I would expect people to DO to encourage me (dance around? clap??) , but I thought it a success as there was no snoring, nobody walked out and there was very little distracted texting. So I guess that accounts for something. Of course Eric Foley was snoring while texting—but thats another story…

So here you go–here are a few images from both workshops, dinner and random here and there. I have to say, if you are a photographer you should really give this conference a shot in 2012. First off, because 2012 will be the end of the world so They Say, but other than that I love the intimacy of it and small group sizes. You really get a chance to hang out and talk to people, without feeling rushed or forced into anything. Mucho kudos to Matt and Enna Grazier and their Dream Team that got it all together. I can only imagine what this will grow into in years to come, and I hope to continue to be a part of it in some fashion or another!

Robert your talk was great and a picked up some sage advice! I’m just bumming that there were no PHODcasts this year? Maybe for Inspire 2012?
