Some weddings move fast. Danielle and Jeff's was the kind where you could actually stop, breathe, and take it all in — the weather was so beautiful guests spilled outside and nobody wanted to come back in. Danielle's dress had a train that could've had its own zip code, and it photographed exactly as dramatically as you'd hope. What I didn't know that day was that a few years later I'd be photographing their first baby. That's the part of this job nobody talks about enough — when couples let you back in for the next chapter.
Waveny House is a 1912 mansion set in New Canaan's Waveny Park — brick facade, formal gardens, and grounds that go on forever, which is why it's been a Fairfield County wedding staple for decades. The day started with a ceremony at St. John's in Darien before heading to Waveny for the reception. If you're getting married here, the garden side of the house at golden hour is the shot — and leave room in the timeline for portraits on the lawn, because that dress-train-with-its-own-zip-code deserves the space!!!
