The Inn at Longshore Wedding | Westport CT | Robert Norman Photography Meta description: A classic Westport wedding at The Inn at Longshore on Long Island Sound — church ceremony, waterfront portraits, an adorable dog, and one very full dance floor!!

You cannot beat The Inn at Longshore's view of Long Island Sound. The inn sits inside Westport's Longshore Club Park, surrounded by water on three sides, which means sunset portraits on the lawn with sailboats drifting behind you — this is the classic Connecticut shoreline wedding, full stop.

Julia and Michael's day started with getting ready in Fairfield and a beautiful church ceremony at St. Pius X [CHECK: confirm church name], then moved to Longshore for cocktails on the veranda and a reception that did not let up. Oh — and their adorable dog made an appearance for portraits, which as far as I'm concerned should be a requirement at every wedding.

I've photographed at Longshore many times over the years, and my advice to couples getting married here is always the same: build 20 minutes into your timeline for portraits at the water's edge right before sunset. The light coming off the Sound at that hour is the whole reason this venue books out so far in advance. It's a five-minute walk that produces the images that end up framed over the fireplace.

If you're planning a Westport wedding — at Longshore, or anywhere along Connecticut's Gold Coast — I'd love to hear about it.
