Olowalu Plantation House Wedding | Maui Destination Wedding Photographer | Robert Norman Photography
Adrian and Trent had a plan. A Connecticut wedding, about 150 people, the whole production. Then they took a trip to Maui and, well — that was the end of that plan.
They scaled it down to 20 people, flew everyone out to the Olowalu Plantation House on the west side of Maui, and somehow still brought me along.
I was not complaining.
There's something that happens at small destination weddings that just doesn't happen the same way at big ones — everyone there genuinely wanted to be there, the couple was completely present, and the setting did about half my job for me. The other half I handled myself. It was one of those days that reminds you why you got into this business in the first place.
Olowalu Plantation House sits right on the water on Maui's west side, with palms overhead and the islands floating on the horizon. For a 20-person wedding, it's about as intimate and spectacular as a venue gets. If you're a Connecticut or East Coast couple thinking about trading the 150-person production for a destination wedding give me a ring... I've been to Maui, Tuscany, and Ireland with my couples, and I've never once heard anyone say they regretted going small.
