New York Botanical Garden Wedding | NYBG Bronx | Robert Norman Photography Meta description: A classic spring wedding at the New York Botanical Garden — Manhattan portraits, the Garden Terrace Room, and breathtaking spring color at NYBG in the Bronx.

For my money, there's nothing quite like a New York City wedding, and Laura and Devin's day at the New York Botanical Garden was proof. We started in Manhattan — bride and bridesmaids in the street, a couple of classic black-and-white frames with the Flatiron Building and the skyline doing what the skyline does — then headed up to the Bronx, where 250 acres of NYBG were absolutely popping with spring color.

The Garden Terrace Room  gave them that glass-walled, garden-all-around reception, and the grounds gave us portrait backdrops you simply cannot get anywhere else in the city: allées of trees in full bloom, manicured gardens, and light filtering through fresh spring leaves. Classic, relaxed, and colorful — exactly what they wanted.

A tip for couples considering an NYBG wedding: spring here is spectacular but moves fast — cherry blossoms and tulips have their own schedule and don't take requests. Build flexibility into your portrait plan and trust your photographer to chase the color. And if you want Manhattan street portraits too (do it!), budget the travel time honestly. It made for a long day and every minute was worth it.

From Central Park's Loeb Boathouse to the Botanical Garden, I photograph weddings all over New York City — and I never get tired of it.
