Jonathan Edwards Winery Wedding | North Stonington CT | Robert Norman Photography
A Connecticut winery in June is a very special place, and Alicia and David got the day every couple hopes for — full sun, a light breeze, and vineyard rows glowing green in every direction. Jonathan Edwards Winery sits on a hilltop in North Stonington, in Connecticut's quiet southeastern corner near the Rhode Island line, and it's about as close to a Napa wedding as you can get without a boarding pass. The ceremony overlooked the vines, cocktails spilled onto the lawn, and the tented reception kept the party going long after the sun dropped behind the hills.
What I love about photographing weddings here is the light. Late-afternoon sun rakes across the vineyard and gives you those warm, glowing couple portraits between the rows — we snuck out for fifteen minutes during golden hour and came back with some of my favorite images of the year. If you're considering a vineyard wedding in Connecticut or New England, this venue belongs on your shortlist (and yes, the wine holds its own).
I've photographed winery weddings across Connecticut and Long Island — from Saltwater Farm Vineyard in Stonington to Kontokosta Winery in Greenport — and each has its own personality. Jonathan Edwards is the one I'd call classic New England elegance with a California twist.
