The Academy Awards, 1985

So about a million years ago in 1985 when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I had just graduated college, I lived in Los Angeles for 2 years. The first year  my roommate and his out of town guests and I decided to head to the Oscars and see who we could see. Now, I can’t imagine it’s THIS easy these days to get where we were standing. I had my old Canon AE-1, a roll of probably 400 (or maybe 800 iso) film, and some kinda crappy-ass Tamrom (24-1000 mm?) zoom lens. (it might have even been a no-name kit lens, now that I think of it…even Tamron was too expensive)  Still, I did what I could from the vantage point we were stuck at.  I must admit – I DO have the propensity to get a little Star-Struck at times, and so this was like a weird kinda Hollywood Dream–it’s SO surreal to see all these celebrities just strolling by you one after the other.

Oh my god! These photos are AWESOME! They are a total treasure. I’m not gonna lie – I’m definitely jealous. When I lived in LA, the Oscars were pretty untouchable and everything just caused more gridlock- wish I could have gone! Thanks for sharing!

Steve Guttenberg was there because Police Academy was one of the greatest films of the 80’s!
