Olowalu Plantation House Maui wedding | Adrienne+Trent

destination wedding the Olowalu Plantation House , Maui Hawaii

ALOHA!

I will apologize in advance for the length of this post, but having never been to Hawaii as well as having one of the most fun, ‘perfect match for me’ couples I can think of, the length of this is inevitable…

To start, I arrived a full week early to give myself a little vacation. Besides, it’s such a long flight to get there, I wasn’t about to fly in and out for a day or 2! Because of this, I got to spend a little time with Adrienne and Trent (over delicious Mai Tai’s) and find out a little about their plans and how much work they did themselves on all the details (which is why I went crazy showing them here)

I LOVED the leather luggage tags they had made with the wedding date!!!

to be honest, I broke a leaf off a tree to use as my shooting surface—probably breaking some sacred Hawaiian rule…

the paper map of Hawaii featured a heart right over Maui 🙂

The details INSIDE the Plantation House were really cool all on their own, including some great, old framed B&W photos

So I take this dress outside and i’m looking around thinking – OK: I have GOT to make this look tropical, it can’t just be out of focus greenery in the distance. Not as easy as it sounds!!!!

the locket and old envelope had special meaning to Adrienne

I’ll love you until pigs fly…

Adrienne’s mom talking in the scenery, curlers and all..waiting for her hair to be finished

Since there were only 17 guests, everyone arrived at once via a shuttle from the hotel

it didn’t take long for the kids to spot the Hawaiian soda!

allow me to introduce you to Rev. Laki Pomaikai Ka’ahumanu, our officiant for the day – whose ceremony was , hands down, one of the most interesting, fun and warm events i’ve seen in quite some time. He also was on Modern Family for their Hawaii episode!

there were special wedding leis for both the bride and groom, and Adriennes was made out of Ginger and smelled incredible!

a little pre-wedding advice and chat

he’ll kill me for including this – but there were a fair amount of tears! 🙂

the light which had been bright and somewhat harsh, softened just as the ceremony started – giving me this BEAUTIFUL side light that could not have been any more perfect—

signing their license under a Banyan Tree

this view just knocks my socks off….

some serious ukulele playing there—

it truly got more and more beautiful as the evening progressed

I can’t help myself with designing something a bit vintage!

and i’ll end with what was – truly – the best sunset of the week. We couldnt believe what it looked like – so much so we all pretty much stopped what we were doing and went to the water to watch it unfold. A true ‘aloha’ moment of Island Time.

Take a second to take in what’s around you.

Don’t rush.

special thanks to Arge from iMauiWeddings for all the planning and help that day

We were just going back over some old emails and looked again at your blog you sent us and we are so happy we did! Sometimes we get used to “our offices” around Maui and forget how truly stunning it really is here! You captured that beautifully! Adrienne and Trent were so laid-back and relaxed that day! You all were so great! Sending you all many mahalos and much aloha!!
