Mr. Max and The Impossible Project

Today I had the delight of shooting Mr Max LaManna along with Miss Carla TenEyck who has photographed Max numerous times. Getting her to let Max come for shoot involved multiple bribes and some blood-letting, but it finally happened today. Purely for fun, it’s nice now and then to do something creative simply for the joy of it, without any real expectations or time frame in which to complete it.

ALL WEEK I had it on my schedule to go shopping for the shoot…and when did I get to the mall? About 2 hours before they showed up…. But I had some rough idea in mind so I kinda knew what I was looking for (still, shopping in a hurry is always not fun, and everything suddenly looks like crap—i think though, that all in all we pulled it together.)

My pal Mike (owner of Ike’s Atomic  if I can toss in a small plug) let me used his driveway, great stone wall and vintage Vespa!

YUP – he’s right there in my driveway—talk about a good sport!

I’m wondering if this car is a tax write off now that I used it in a shoot?

I kinda really went to town on his hair in these ( yes, Mr Norman does hair when necessary….)

“LOOK MORE PISSED!!!!”

OK – I almost feel like, this one is too ‘dirty’ or something— but the  water was Carla’s idea—HONEST!!

Now these are actual Polaroids. There is a company producing cool Polaroid film for more artistic purposes rather than ‘normal’ photography. Called The Impossible Project, I specifically bought some of these films to try out today. I mean, I cant start experimenting with fussy films at a wedding, can I? The B&W film has to stay cool and out of light. You shoot it and immediatly have to put it in a dark place!

The other film, called Fade To Black does JUST THAT with time. So you have to either peel the surfaces apart or scan the image at the point you’re happy with it…a very tactile, nerve wracking and hands on way of shooting!

I love the way the polaroid film creates that grainy old quality. I wish he had on board shorts, I though I saw gidget running through one of the shots…
The Vespa was a nice touch!

You don’t need to convince me that the water was Carla’s idea. Nice work on these shots. I love the hair and the look. It’s too bad Max is such a Diva 😉
