Woo-Hoo! Lesley and Michael were married last week – on April Fools Day no less- at St. Matthew’s church in Secaucas NJ, with the reception following at Nanina’s In The Park, in Belleville NJ. This is wedding number 2 for me this season in New Jersey, which is cool because I hardly ever get weddings there. Despite the fear that many bride’s have about a photographer never having been at a venue before, I am always excited because it’s something NEW! (so brides, do not fear that aspect!)
I photographed Michaels sisters wedding last year in Greenwich, so it was cool to see a bunch of familiar faces at this event.
Lesley got ready at her folks house which was just down the road from the church—although because you can never make an easy turn in New Jersey, I passed the church and ended up driving like 2 miles before I could turn around! The guys were at a hotel which was covered by my pal Jay Fleming, who also got a great shot of the watch that Lesley had engraved for Michael ( which I loved, I might add..)
The weather report for the day was rather grim: showers and wind–and at one point I saw predicted thunder. But as it turned out, it drizzled on my way there and then did NOTHING–so were were actually able to shoot outside tat the reception.
And let me tell you about Nanina’s—I have honestly never seen such a spread of delicious looking food at a wedding. There was a 2 foot wide scooped out wheel of parmesan I had designs on carrying out the back door to my car… And photographers take note: we were treated REALLy well by the staff, fed AND kept in the loop with the nights activities—imagine that!! It’s always so great when a place, especially one you are not familiar with, ‘gets it’!
Anyhow–enough talk–enjoy the shots and congrats you two!! Talk to you when you get back!
