Alexandra + Brian's Jersey City engagement session

So for starters – i’ve never been to Jersey City. So the entire ride down i’m thinking, “WAIT: I have to go through one of those TUNNELS??!!” While I should not have been surprised, the time it took to get through was almost as long as the drive down (ahhh! NYC!!) but once I emerged in the NJ side, I was pleasantly surprised by the whole vibe of the area. We met up at the Hyatt – finding it was much chillier and WINDY than we all expected. Alexandra and Brian were nice enough to get me a soda and snacks to curb my impending ‘should have eaten more before I left grouchiness’ (I’m like a 9 year old, I suppose)

Anyhow – my blood sugar aside – I could not wait to get some shots from THIS vantage point of NYC!!

they had only recently added the tower portion to the ‘new’ World Trade center

right before we shot this, a heard of PATH train riders zipped by!

While I know this probably isn’t the best idea- these guys braved the danger of the local trains to get some fun track images!

–you know, it’s funny: EVERYBODY is usually a nervous wreck during engagement shots. That’s no joke. Everyone think that have to do ‘something’ or believe they are doing something wrong–whatever it is. The first 15 minutes (as you’ve heard me say if you’ve had a session with me) is usually not so great.

Buit there is a point when things usually change – I can see if and feel it (at the risk of sounding all Zen) It’s like suddenly a wall is broken and the mood shifts. The couple becomes more comfortable, realizing its not the painful process they anticipated. For Alexandra and Brian – it was right about HERE when things shifted for me. I wonder if they feel the same!!

we took over the steps of the postal service for a little while—

–this was so funny. We were walking back to my car while still shooting a little, and this small-fry with his safety helmet and bike zipped down the street and was NOT about to veer off his path. So Brian and Lexi made an arch and he casually just passed underneath!!!

And finally – I spotted some art deco i could pas sup to finish the afternoon off!!!

I totally see the shift in comfort where you pointed it out. Isn’t that funny? It’s so true 🙂
